College Counseling
The College Counseling Department is part of the academic advising, student services, and college counseling office (ASC). The goal of the ASC is to ensure that Oxbridge students and their parents have access to pertinent, practical, and well-timed information that will allow students to move on to post-Oxbridge Academy destinations that match with our students’ talents, interests, and goals.
The ASC team works with students, parents, teachers, coaches, and others to help each individual Oxbridge student build a balanced high school experience that includes developing a rigorous academic course plan, a strategy for deep extracurricular engagement, and a thoughtful approach to post-secondary goals. The ASC team helps each student design and shape their learning in high school, which includes close attention to academic schedules and aspirations, extracurricular activities, including athletics, community service, and summer experiences.
By the time they reach the formal college counseling process as juniors, each Oxbridge student has been guided and advised to build a balanced and challenging high school experience that builds a solid foundation for post-secondary goals. Alongside their assigned ASC team member, upperclassmen discover the right college fit for their futures. Students receive help through all parts of the college admissions process from evaluating various colleges to preparing applications to making the right selection. We also counsel parents on what to expect throughout the process and provide valuable resources for financial aid and scholarships.
The College Counseling team recognizes that choosing the right college is a personal and sometimes complex decision. That’s why we believe so strongly in helping each student find the post-secondary path that best matches his or her unique needs and wants.
