2D Art

Student projects created in Drawing I & II, Painting I & II, and Mixed Media I & II classes. These classes are taught by Ms. Melissa Swift.

The 2D art courses teach a wide-range of artistic media. In Drawing I and II, students learn the proper use of a variety of artistic tools through projects designed to integrate students’ personal interests and observational skills. In Painting I and II students focus on the three primary forms of paint: watercolor, acrylic, and oil. Students learn safety, tools and techniques of each medium and create works that showcase their exploration of color, creative freedom, and personal interests. 2D Mixed Media I and II combine basic drawing and painting skills to teach students how materials interact with one another through creation and destruction, layers, abstraction and representation, and the element of surprise to express their individual vision. Portfolio I and II provide a more intensive focus on 2D art topics of special interest to each individual student.
