Dance
The mission of the Oxbridge Academy's Dance curriculum is to promote students' desire for life-long learning in the field of dance. Students are provided a personalized learning environment that fosters meaningful experiences in performance and non-performance areas of dance through an environment of collaborative learning, critical thinking, and professional partnerships. Opportunities for solo work, and working with guest teachers and choreographers are available in the upper-level classes.
Alyssa Thompson, Dance Teacher
Education: Bachelor's degree in Dance from New World School of the Arts/ University of Florida; Master's degree in Nonprofit Management from Florida Atlantic University Distinguishing Honors: Ms. Thompson has performed works by prominent choreographers from modern artists including Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham to contemporary works by Zvi Gotheiner and Genna Moroni. She danced professionally with Repertory Dance Theater of Utah, Surfscape Contemporary Dance Theater, and Ballet Florida where she toured both nationally and internationally. Ms. Thompson is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 6/7 & Partnering of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.
Classes Taught: Dance Repertory, Dance Foundations,Yoga, and Middle School Dance Ensemble.
Our dancers are given the opportunity to grow as artists through challenging technique classes and repertory by renowned choreographers, all in an environment that encourages collaboration, creation, and fostering an appreciation for the arts.
