2D Art

The 2D art courses teach a wide range of artistic media. In Drawing I and II, students learn the proper use of various creative tools through projects designed to integrate students’ personal interests and observational skills. In Painting I and II, students focus on the three primary forms of paint: watercolor, acrylic, and oil. Students learn each medium’s safety, tools, and techniques and create works that showcase their exploration of color, creative freedom, and personal interests. 2D Mixed Media I and II combine basic drawing and painting skills to teach students how materials interact with one another through creation and destruction, layers, abstraction, and representation, and the element of surprise to express their vision. Portfolios I and II provide a more intensive focus on 2D art topics of particular interest to each student.
