Education:
Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Vanderbilt University; Master of Counselor Education from University of Virginia; Ms. Avakian is also recognized as a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC).
Brief Background:
Ms. Avakian is a native Floridian who grew up in Palm Beach Gardens. She attended Vanderbilt University for her undergraduate degree, where she studied psychology and worked in various psychology research labs, her favorite of these focused on coping skills for at-risk youth. After completing her graduate work at The University of Virginia, she worked as a comprehensive high school counselor in Charlottesville, Virginia, for several years. Her background in comprehensive school counseling aids her in successfully working with students from various backgrounds and various experience levels in the college admission process. Her goal is to help make what can be a stressful process, preparing for and applying to college, a more manageable and fun task for students and families. Ms. Avakian is also an avid supporter of animals in need. She also serves as a foster parent to dogs looking for their forever homes, primarily through her work with the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida.
